Welcome to Liping's home page!


An assistant professor of geographic information science (GIScience) and geospatial artificial intelligence (GeoAI) starting January 2020 at the University of New Mexico. Currently, a postdoctoral research associate in the Information Sciences group (CCS-3) of the Computer, Computational, and Statistical Sciences Division (CCS) at Los Alamos National Laboratory (LANL), focusing on computer vision and machine learning algorithm development for technical diagram analysis. Liping works with Dr. Diane Oyen, and Dr. Brendt Wohlberg. Before joining LANL, Liping was a postdoctoral researcher in the GeoVISTA Center, Department of Geography and affiliated with Institute for CyberScience, Pennsylvania State University, where Liping worked with Professor Alan MacEachren (Director of the GeoVISTA Center), and Professor Guido Cervone (Director of the Geoinformatics and Earth Observation Lab).

Passionate about data-driven and big data analytics research in Geographic Information Science (GIScience) and Data Science using data mining, computer vision, machine learning & deep learning, plus (geo) visual analytics.
